Sam Wilson, age 88, of Booneville, KY departed this life on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family. Sam was born July 1, 1937, a son of the late Jerry and Myrtle (Turner) Wilson.
Sam worked hard his entire life and held many positions, he was the owner of Wilson Shopwise, had a sawmill on Cow Creek and was a retired state employee. His business ownership allowed him opportunities to meet and become friends with many people in the community.
Sam was a proud member of the Cow Creek Presbyterian Church, he enjoyed watching the UK Wildcats and Cincinnati Reds and spending time with his family.
Sam leaves behind to mourn his passing many family members. He has 2 sons: Danny (Connie) Wilson of Booneville, KY, Vada (Kaye) Wilson of Booneville, KY and 1 daughter, Tracy Wilson Arnold of Booneville, KY.
He was proud of his grandchildren and will be missed greatly by all 5 of them: Brandon (Lisa) Arnold of Booneville, KY, Courtney (Larry) Dunahoo of Booneville, KY, Brittany Williams of Irvine, KY, Whittney (Brandon) Younts of Booneville, KY and Samantha (Shane) Wilson of Beattyville, KY.
Sam has 6 great-grandchildren who brought joy to him as well: Jacob Arnold, Peyton Younts, Asher Younts, Finlee Dunahoo, Spencer Dunahoo and Annabelle Williams and a host of family and friends.
Sam was a beloved husband and father and survived by his brother, Arnold Wilson of Booneville, KY and 1 sister-in-law, Barbara Deaton of Booneville, KY.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, whom he missed everyday since her death, Irona Gibson Wilson. One sister, Alvena Wilson and many other family members.
Visitation will be held at Searcy and Strong Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm and funeral services will be held after with Pastor Terry Sandlin officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Cow Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
