Obituary

Ronnie Amis, 77, of Booneville, Kentucky passed away July 2, 2026 at his residence following a long illness.

Ronnie was born May 26, 1949 in Owsley County, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Allison and Wilma Sandlin Amis. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  Following his military service, Ronnie worked as a carpenter and as was a dedicated Mason.  He faithfully attended Indian Creek Church.

Ronnie is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Lizzie Lee Mayes Amis of Booneville, Kentucky; one son Mr. Ronnie Nicholas “Cassandra” Amis of Booneville, Kentucky; two daughters, Mrs. Tammy Amis “Scott" Hornback of Somerset, Kentucky, Mrs. Tabatha “Frank” Lear of Booneville, Kentucky; ten grandchildren:  Chelsey, Samantha, Elizabeth, Austin, Kaiya, Autumn, Rhys, Coraline, Walker and Briar; four great-grandchildren: Oliver, Theodore, Memphis, Tobias; one brother, Mr. Paul Wayne “Sara” Amis of Newport, Kentucky; one sister, Mrs. Phyllis “Bobby” Frost of Ricetown, Kentucky; one brother-in-law, Mr. Bill Woodward of Booneville, Kentucky; honorary brother, Mr. Randall “Kathy” Mayes of Booneville, Kentucky; and several nieces, nephews, relative and friends.

In addition to his parents Allison and Wilma Sandlin Amis, Ronnie was preceded in death by one brother Donnie Amis; two sisters, Dorothy Bowling and Reba Woodward; and his father- and mother-in-law, A.J and Mae Mayes.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, at 10:00 am at Indian Creek Church with Brother Terry Sandlin officiating. Burial will follow at the Amis-Baker Cemetery on Grassy Branch, Ricetown, Kentucky.
