Garland Joe "Bo" Bowman, 87, of Beattyville, Kentucky passed away Saturday, August 9, 2025 at his residence following a sudden illness.

Garland was born February 8, 1938 in Lee County, Kentucky.  He was the son of the late Walker Bowman and Susie Clay.  Garland was a former machinist and foreman of the Dover Corporation in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Joe and wife Betty loved dogs.  He enjoyed hunting and training dogs.  Joe was a private pilot.  Joe attended the South Jackson Baptist Church.

Joe is survived by his brother Mr. Albert R. Bowman of Florence, Kentucky and one sister Mrs. Midge Brandenburg of Goshen, Ohio and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Walker Bowman and Susie Clay, wife Betty S. Bowman, his brother Earl Bowman and three sisters Ruth Burton, Edna Willena Cecil and Dorothy Fee.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Searcy and Strong Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Searcy and Strong Funeral Home with Brother Steve Kilburn officiating.  Burial will follow in the Brandenburg-Couch Cemetery, Lee County, Kentucky.
